How To Remove Skin Tags
Updated: March 18, 2016
Skin tags are miniature growths that occur on the skin. I suffered from these nuisances and wasted a lot of time looking for information on how to effectively tackle their removal. Many of you have written in and asked me what causes skin tags and are wondering why they occur. The technical term for for this benign tumor is acrochordon. These pesky chunks of tissue are different than warts and moles. They are usually tiny and painless and typically are irregularly shaped. Once you have identified them, if they are small in size you can then begin to plan accordingly for safe skin tag removal.

These pesky chunks of tissue are different than warts and moles. They are usually tiny and painless and typically are irregularly shaped. Once you have identified them, if they are small in size you can then begin to plan accordingly for safe skin tag removal.
If however, you find larger ones which may or may not be skin tags, it is advisable that you visit a dermatologist so that he or she can help you remove them only after careful diagnosis. Once that is in order, what you need is a solution that ensures that you can get rid of the tags once and for all. You will never have to be self conscious about their presence nor will you need to worry about their effect on yourself esteem. You also need to find a method that works consistently without breaking the bank. I have therefore provided you with a brief overview of possible solutions for removing skin tags that I have found to be quite effective.
Tree tea oil
This is natural oil derived from the said plant. It is available in most pharmacies and they sell quite cheaply. The beauty of this kind of treatment is that it contains entirely natural extracts. It is organic thereby ensuring that no artificial inputs will alter your skin’s natural chemical composition. It also has the benefit of being able to remove the skin tag without causing any damage on the surrounding skin. All you have to do is soak a cloth with water and add a few drops of the tree tea oil before rubbing it onto the affected area
Castor oil
Castor oil is one other natural extract that is commonly used as an at-home remover. This oil has several uses and can be used effectively to remove skin tags and other similar types of growths such as warts and mole. In order to be effective, you need to mix it with baking soda before you rub it gently on the affected area. I recommend that you do this daily until the tag falls off completely.
Duct tape
Duct tape is not a plant extract by any means. It can, however, be surprisingly effective in the removal of skin tags when used properly. Cut a small strip of the tape and stick it to the affected area. Check the tape in two days and if it has not fallen off add another layer and check in it a day’s time. Continue in this manner until the growth has been deprived of enough oxygen such that it withers away and falls off.
Blood root
This plant extract should be used with extreme care. This is because owing to its chemical composition it can cause harm to surrounding healthy skin. It has to be used sparingly and with a lot of caution.I only recommend this approach if none of the above methods work for you. If you choose to try blood root, I can't stress enough how important it is that you cover the surrounding area during application so as to prevent harming the healthy portion of your skin.
The above-mentioned methods have varying degrees of effectiveness and cost. Some individuals have also had great success with applying skin tag removal creams and other similar products. It is up to you to find that which conforms to your skin type and your budget. You should consult with your dermatologist before trying any of these methods on your own. Once you choose a technique, it is very important that you stick with it and follow it through until the end!
